Sum 41 teased a “Deryck Whibley announcement” on their social media channels scheduled for Wednesday, coincidentally the very same day that Linkin Park were planning to make their own big announcement. The music rumor mill began circulating news that Whibley was going to be the new singer for the reunited Linkin Park. The Sum 41 singer quickly dispelled those rumors in an Instagram post of his own, humorously writing, “I feel the need to dispel some current rumors. It has been brought to my attention that many people think I could be joining a reuniting band. But I just want to say, despite popular belief, I am not joining Oasis … or Linkin Park. Or any other band for that matter.”

The big announcement that Whibley did make is that he is going on a book tour to promote his forthcoming memoir, Walking Disaster, My Life Through Heaven and Hell, which will be published by Gallery Books on October 8. The singer/author writes, “I have my own ‘tour and book’ announcement that I will now move to the end of the week, ahead of our U.S. tour. I do look forward to seeing whatever both these amazing bands do in the future.” (Loudwire)
