Meeting Walter Payton

1995 was not only the year I graduated high school (and somehow managed to sprout facial hair), but it was also the year I got to meet my favorite football player of all time, “Sweetness”, Walter Payton. My dad sold appliances to home builders and somehow he snuck me into a trade show where Walter was there. Much like kids stopping by the “good” house to get candy multiple times on Halloween, I think I went thru the line 5 times to get everything signed. In the modern day, your collectibles aren’t worth anything unless you pay to have them authenticated, but I was there. I have the memory. And a photo with me, Walter, and a GIANT blonde lady who was clearly security.
